Alert – UPS Package Theft

Screen Shot 2013-12-05 at 8.59.52 AMThis was sent to the website from Janice Orner. Please report any suspicious activity to the police.
~
I wanted to share an alert for the Temelec Area.  I have had three boxes delivered by UPS and all three packages have been taken from my front porch.  That means someone had to enter through my gate, walk up to my front door and remove the packages.  You cannot see the packages from the street.  My sense is someone is following the UPS delivery truck. I checked on-line when UPS left the packages and I checked the front door in less than an hour after delivery and there were no packages.  I have several packages delivered with no problem. This is the first time I have had this problem.  I have contacted the shippers, UPS and the Sonoma Police Department.
Thanks

Chi Gong Class at the Hall

Screen Shot 2013-12-03 at 7.42.22 AMWill be you be in need of some relaxation and renewal after the holidays? Please join us for a weekly class with Robert Young, a popular teacher of Qigong or, Chi Gong, an ancient Chinese practice for health and vitality. Robert will be leading a class for Temelec residents at the Hall each Monday morning at 10am beginning on January 6.

Chi is thought to be life energy and gong means to cultivate, so chi gong is a practice that cultivates one’s vital life energy. The form that we will learn is easy to do and can be done either sitting or standing. It consists of gentle arm and body movements coordinated with the breath, that bring relaxation, focus, and fresh energy to the body and mind. Studies have shown that these practices have many health benefits including improved memory, more stamina, fewer colds and flu, improved muscle flexibility and joint mobility, better balance, and reduction in overall stress. Please come and join us, and give it a try! A $3 donation after each class would be welcome.

Tower Home Insurance Alert

Screen Shot 2013-11-24 at 2.10.16 PMI recently came across an article that alerted me to the risk of continuing to have my homeowners’ insurance with Tower. This was the company recommended by my Allstate agent when they ceased to write home policies in California. You can read the article by clicking here.

I have since switched to another company.   Francesca

No Limit on Hotel Size in Sonoma

Screen Shot 2013-11-20 at 8.18.46 AMA controversial ballot measure that would limit hotel growth in Sonoma appeared headed for defeat Tuesday night, deflating proponents who argued that without such restrictions the city of 10,000 is in danger of being overrun by development and tourists.

What election officials called semifinal official results showed Measure B losing by just 92 votes, with 51.3 percent of ballots cast rejecting the measure. Of the 3,623 ballots cast, 1,853 went against Measure B, according to Sonoma County’s Registrar of Voters. Supporting the Hotel Limitation Measure were 1,761 Sonoma voters, or 48.7 percent.

Thanksgiving Dinner at the Hall

Screen Shot 2013-11-07 at 9.23.02 AMRuth Merrill and Mary Ann Maslowski are arranging a Thanksgiving Day dinner for the “Orphans” of Temelec— those with no family celebration in the plans.  They will prepare the turkey and mashed potatoes but need some help with decorating the Hall a little and lifting the turkey! The dinner will be at 3:00pm.

To attend just plan on bringing a side dish or dessert and call Ruth Merrill so they have a number estimate.  Everyone is part of our family here in Temelec!
